Department of Sociology

Sociology Department was established in March 2004 with a regular two year M.A. Program under the supervision of Ms.Mah Gul .Department took start just with 25 students .The first cadre of young women was graduated from Master program in 2006 while currently, the number of enrolled students in the department is around 250. However, number of batches of students have been passed out till to date and are serving in renowned public and government sectors. Sociology Department introduced BS (4 Year) program in 2008. The program has been formulated in accordance with the policies and standards given by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Department started its M.Phil. Program in 2014. Graduates from the department have adopted a wide range of careers. Most have excelled in their profession and have joined public and private institutions.

To inculcate goals and values stated in the Constitution of Pakistan among the students with the knowledge of education

  • To develop students by value based quality education with commitment to their ethical and multidimensional development which will contribute towards their educational, social and economic wellbeing.
  • To provide quality social work education to enable our women to meet life’s challenges, to promote social and family responsibilities, To develop individual potential and reward results, to empower and build an innovative, cohesive and professional women.

 Goals and objectives

  • To develop rational thinking, scientific temper and building youth through value based education.
  • To acquaint to the students about an emerging issues of society.
  • Studying the general principles and pillars of social life.
  • Studying the patterns of human and social behavior and their effects on the individual and society.
  • The study and analysis of parts of social construction is a detailed study. This is because all other political, economic and educational institutions are affected by the prevailing social order.
  • Knowledge of the laws of social transformation, which are aimed at studying the bases and rules that society, must follow to make a qualitative leap in the case of society.
  • Introducing various social institutions that serve the community.
  • Explain the concept of social unity and encourage society to achieve this concept.
  • Studying social relationships that combine individuals. Develop Social stability, or social construction, which aims to study social systems and phenomena in a society and in a certain period of time, provided that this society is stable and free from problems or disturbances.
  • Social dynamic (evolutionary) or so-called social change, a section that aims to study the phenomena of social development and change and the laws of social movement
