The Departments of Biotechnology and Zoology, SBK Women’s University, jointly organized the Alumni Reunion 2026 to reconnect alumni with their alma mater, celebrate their academic and professional achievements, and strengthen lifelong connections between graduates, faculty members, and students.
The event was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zainab Bibi, Registrar Prof. Dr. Raheela Manzoor, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Dr. Naheed Sajjad, Chairperson Zoology Dr. Zil-e-Huma, and Chairperson Biotechnology Dr. Farah Naz.
The reunion featured interactive sessions, alumni reflections, and knowledge-sharing activities that provided a platform for alumni to share their academic and professional journeys while inspiring current students.
The Biotechnology and Zoology department arranged segments and interactive activities were coordinated and represented under the supervision, guidance and support of Dean Dr. Naheed Sajjad and Chairperson Dr. Zil-e-Huma by Dr. Maryam Maqsood from Zoology Department and Dr. Farah Naz from Biotechnology Department and assisted by Ms. Samia Ishtiaq (Alumna).
The Departments of Biotechnology and Zoology extend their sincere appreciation to all alumni, faculty members, students, and organizers for their valuable contribution in making the Alumni Reunion 2026 a successful and memorable event.
📚 Kitab Mela 2026 | SBKWU x Qurtaba Schools of Excellence 📚
On 23rd April 2026, SBK Women’s University, Quetta successfully organized a Kitab Mela “Book Fair” in collaboration with Qurtaba Schools of Excellence. The event was initiated by ORIC-SBKWU to revive reading culture and celebrate World Book Day.
The Book Fair was inaugurated by the Worthy Vice Chancellor SBKWU, Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, along with Guests of Honor Syed Agha Hassan Meeri, DG Khana-e-Farhang Iran, Balochistan, and Syed Khalid Hussain Bukhari, President, Tehrik-e-Mehnat Pakistan.
The occasion was graced by Registrar SBKWU Prof. Dr. Raheela Manzoor, Mr. Jameel Kurd, Founder, Qurtaba Schools of Excellence, and Prof. Dr. Mehwish Malghani, Director ORIC SBKWU.
Mr. Sarwar Javed, Mr.Afzal Murad, Mr. Hafeez Jamali, Mr. Ali Gul, Ms. Shazia Langove, Dr. Khadija and Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Ghambeer also attended the event.
The fair featured diverse book stalls, student-led literary activities, and food stall for visitors. Over 150–200 students and staff from Qurtaba Schools of Excellence participated, along with SBKWU faculty and students.
Aim of the Event was to promote reading culture, provide access to quality academic and literary resources, and strengthen industry-academia linkages for knowledge sharing.

WEMP Module on Effective Communication Conducted at SBK Women’s University
Quetta, April 23: The first module-based session of the Women Empowerment Mentorship Program (WEMP) was successfully conducted at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Quetta, on Thursday. The session marked the formal commencement of a series of capacity-building activities aimed at enhancing the professional and personal development of participants.
The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, setting a respectful and inspiring tone for the event. This was followed by a welcome address by the Focal Person, Prof. Dr. Shumaila Mazhar, who outlined the objectives and significance of the WEMP initiative. She emphasized the importance of mentorship and skill development in preparing participants to meet contemporary professional challenges.
Prof. Dr. Mahwish Malghani presented the first module, titled Effective Communication. In her comprehensive session, she highlighted the critical role of clear, respectful, and impactful communication in professional settings. She also underscored the importance of workplace ethics, active listening, and interpersonal skills in fostering a positive and productive work environment.
The session witnessed active participation from both mentors and mentees, resulting in meaningful discussions and exchange of ideas. Participants engaged in reflective dialogue, sharing experiences and exploring practical strategies to improve communication in real-life professional contexts.
The module effectively contributed to the core objectives of WEMP by strengthening essential professional competencies among participants. It also reinforced the mentor-mentee relationship, providing a collaborative platform for shared learning and guidance.
Moreover, the session promoted key professional values, including ethical conduct, mutual respect, and effective interpersonal interaction, aligning closely with the broader vision of the program.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Focal Person, who acknowledged the contributions of the presenter, mentors, and mentees. The session was widely appreciated as an enriching and productive learning experience, setting a strong foundation for the modules to follow
Meeting Held with IWMI Representatives to Review Progress of Kitchen Garden Project at SBKWU
A meeting was held with the Worthy Vice Chancellor of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU), Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and representatives of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) to review the progress of the Kitchen Garden Project currently being implemented at the university.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the ongoing activities and achievements of the project. The representatives from IWMI shared updates on the development of kitchen gardens and the steps taken to promote sustainable food production and efficient water use within the university. The meeting also focused on the future prospects of the project, including its expansion and further collaboration to encourage sustainable agricultural practices and awareness among students.
Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq appreciated the efforts and collaboration of IWMI and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting food security, environmental awareness, and sustainable water management practices. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue strengthening the partnership and ensuring the successful implementation and future growth of the Kitchen Garden Project at SBKWU.
Plantation Drive Held as Part of MoU Commitment Between SBKWU and Agriculture College
A plantation drive was organized at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU) as part of the commitments made under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between SBKWU and the Agriculture College.
During the activity, olive trees were planted on one acre of land to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. Mr. Abdullah Baloch, Deputy Director Agriculture, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and Registrar Dr. Raheela Manzoor, along with Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and administrative staff, participated in the plantation drive and planted olive trees.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq thanked the representatives from the Agriculture Department for their cooperation and support. She emphasized that olive plantation is crucial for the future of Balochistan, particularly in the context of water scarcity, as olive cultivation requires comparatively less water and can support sustainable agricultural development in the region.

The students of the 3rd Semester, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), organized a Gratitude Ceremony to celebrate the establishment of their new department and to express their appreciation for the academic facilities provided by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and the Registrar, Dr. Zainab Akram, of SBKWU.
The ceremony began with the formal inauguration of the department by Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Honorable Vice Chancellor, who cut the ribbon and was presented with a bouquet by the students of MLT. She was accompanied by Dr. Ayesha Mushtaq, Chairperson, Department of MLT, and Prof. Dr. Uzma Jabeen, Dean, who gave a detailed overview of the department, highlighting its existing facilities as well as the areas identified for further improvement to strengthen academic and research standards.
In her address, Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq shared valuable suggestions for the department’s advancement and reaffirmed her commitment to providing enhanced research and laboratory facilities to support the growth of the program.
MoU Signed Between SBKWU and AIMS to Strengthen Healthcare and Academic Collaboration
Quetta, September 25, 2025 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU), Quetta, and Aria Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Quetta, to promote cooperation in healthcare and academic development.
The agreement was formally signed by Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor, SBKWU, and Dr. Sohail Khan, CEO, AIMS, during a ceremony held at SBKWU.
Under the MoU, AIMS will provide quality healthcare services to SBKWU faculty, staff, their families, and students at discounted rates. In addition, both institutions agreed to collaborate on academic and research initiatives, with a special focus on women empowerment, internships, academic support, specialized training, and practical demonstrations for Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) students.
The partnership also includes the organization of awareness sessions, skill-building workshops, and joint activities aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange, professional development, and community outreach.
This MoU reflects SBKWU’s continued commitment to building strong academic linkages while ensuring affordable healthcare facilities for its academic fraternity.
The Pro Vice Chancellor of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU), Dr. Rahila Umer Sumalani, participated as a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Women: “Women Shaping the Future: Innovation, Resilience, and Leadership”, held on 24th–25th September 2025 at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
Prof. Dr Rubina Mushtaq Vice Chancellor SBKWU and Dr. Noor Amna Malik, MD NAHE,-HEC has graced the closing ceremony cascading Training arranged by QAA-SBKWU. During the ceremony, honourable guests handed over training completion certificates to the faculty . During the ceremony, Prof. Dr Rubina Mushtaq and Dr. Noor Amna Malik appreciated the such trainings being held at SBKWU. At the end, a group picture also snapped for memories. SBKWU celebrated Independence day 2025 with zest and zeal today. During the event, a flag hoisting ceremony was held and Prof. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor hoisted the flag and Quetta Police saluted the national flag.The university’s staff and pupils from SBK Model School witnessed the event.
