Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Faculty of Basic Sciences

Human Nutrition and dietetics department was established in 2024. Department was started with BS 4 year program. The program has been formulated in accordance with the policies and standards given by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The department has already been approved in academic council meeting.

The department is guided by the beacon of its vision and mission statements that are in allignment to the SBK Women’s University’s goals and mission.

Vision
To be a center of excellence in education, research, and community service in the field of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, producing globally competent, ethically grounded professionals committed to improving public health, advancing nutritional science, and addressing the evolving dietary needs of society.
Mission

To produce competent professionals in Human Nutrition and Dietetics with the necessary scientific knowledge, practical skills, critical thinking, ethical values, and leadership abilities to address nutritional challenges, promote health and well-being, and contribute effectively to community development and public health through evidence-based dietary practices and services.

Goals and Objectives
  • To prepare students for diverse careers in clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, food service management, and community dietetics, with a solid foundation in the science of human nutrition.
  • To contribute to societal well-being by producing competent professionals who can assess, plan, and implement nutrition interventions that improve health outcomes across populations.
  • To develop a deep understanding of the role of nutrition in health and disease prevention, with the ability to translate scientific knowledge into practical dietary guidance and policy.
  • To promote research in areas such as nutritional epidemiology, therapeutic diets, food safety, and sustainable food systems, fostering innovation that supports public health and well-being.
  • To instill ethical values, cultural sensitivity, and lifelong learning among graduates, enabling them to serve as leaders in healthcare, education, research, and advocacy
